'“Places We Go” by Sophia Ammouri
Sophia Ammouri (b.2000) is a visual artist born in the Sweden, Stockholm. Sophia’s practice originates in painting and unfolds through an ongoing exploration of home, belonging, and the spaces that emerge through dialogue, memory, and shared experience.
Escapism is often dismissed as withdrawal a refusal to confront reality. The exhibition “Places We Go” proposes a different reading. Here, fantasy is understood not as avoidance, but as a parallel method of survival: a space where the mind negotiates pressures that reality alone cannot contain.
The works presented explore escapism as an active psychological process rather than a passive retreat. The exhibition contains 7 art pieces and explores how contemporary life produces conditions that make escape necessary. Constant connectivity, economic precarity, information overload, and collective fatigue have transformed fantasy into a cultural language of endurance.
